Naver Community Recap: Blog Tab Top Spots Reshuffle From Friday, Cafe Posts Drop Out of ‘Relevance’ and Websites Pile Into Integrated Search

Something moved on Naver at the end of last week, and Korea’s marketers noticed before Naver said anything. Since our last community recap on 15 October, the i-boss boards have filled up with the same complaint in different forms. Blog-tab rankings have reshuffled, cafe posts have fallen out of “relevance” sorting, and integrated search is suddenly full of websites. Meanwhile Naver is telling the press that creators have never been better paid. Here’s the week.

Blog tab: top-two positions gone since Friday

The most-read thread on i-boss this week, “Asking about everyone’s blog exposure”, was posted on 20 October. It says that since last Friday (16 October) there’s been churn in both integrated search (통검) and the Blog tab (블탭). Posts that had been sitting in first and second place on the Blog tab “are all dropping out”. Many of the same posts, oddly, still show in integrated search. The poster says they’ve been fighting a series of problems “since July” and are “getting tired”.

A separate thread, “Naver blog exposure missing wholesale”, comes from a freelance blogger with a 준최4 index, a mid-tier rung on Naver’s unofficial blog-authority ladder. They say exposure has shrunk steadily since July and is now “completely wiped out”. Meanwhile colleagues with 준최1–2 blogs still rank, and so do posts from blogs with no index at all. And on 19 October someone simply asked: “What is Naver doing now?”

Our take: the timing fits. Naver’s search blog announced one unified layout for web, blog, cafe, Knowledge iN and video results on 15 October. When a SERP is rebuilt, the blocks that feed it get re-weighted, and Blog-tab positions drifting apart from integrated-search positions is exactly what you’d expect. Naver hasn’t confirmed a ranking change. But the old blog-index tiers look like a weaker predictor than ever, and the July-onwards decline lines up with AI Briefing’s growing appetite for a smaller set of cited blogs.

Cafe posts vanish from “relevance” sort

On the cafe side, “Posts that used to rank well have all gone down” (20 October) describes an official cafe run from an “optimised” account. Its posts that had ranked well in the Cafe tab “all dropped” from around last week. They don’t appear at all in relevance order. Republished posts show only under “latest”. The poster’s agency told them it’s happening to everyone. Another user asked whether cafe grade affects exposure, and replies suggested the cafe’s category matters more.

Visible under “latest” but missing from “relevance” usually means a post is indexed but has been reclassified by quality or source trust. That’s not the same as a bug. Agencies selling cafe-viral packages on “optimised accounts” are the obvious target, and Naver has been tightening this area since it shut outside AI crawlers out of cafes and blogs (our report).

Websites flood integrated search, including AI-built ones

The most interesting post came this morning, 21 October: “What do you make of website exposure in integrated search right now?” The poster says AI-built websites started creeping into integrated search about a month ago and are now everywhere. On some queries they’re seeing ten or more websites in integrated search, which they say they’ve never seen before. Newly built sites, Daangn (당근) pages, pages propped up with backlinks and YouTube channels are all showing where they “never used to appear”. They add, bitterly, that the backlinks and traffic work they’d been doing “now all looks pointless”.

That’s a big shift for a market where Naver’s own UGC has long crowded out the open web. If it holds, the unified layout is giving web documents more room. That’s good news for brands with real sites, and a warning that cheap AI-generated sites are getting through too.

Also this week

  • Creator payouts: Naver told Energy Economic News (20 October) that payouts and grants to creators through AdPost, Brand Connect and Naver Mate have nearly doubled since before AI Briefing. AdPost alone is up 14%, and some Naver Mate creators have now received more than ₩40m in cumulative grants. Clip short-form creators join Naver Mate this year, and the programme goes permanent in 2027. The paper notes that Naver still hasn’t disclosed click-through to source posts. That’s the figure the bloggers above actually care about.
  • Place verification bug: one advertiser reports a week of “please re-verify” loops on Smart Place business verification, despite submitting the registration certificate and signage photo.
  • Shopping: Naver Ads says the PC homepage “N+Store benefits” tab becomes a “넾다세일” sale tab from 26 October to 6 November. Only participating ADVoost Shopping and shopping search ads will show there, to logged-in and logged-out users alike (notice). That’s one more surface where organic shopping listings don’t appear.
  • Coming tomorrow: Related Questions moves out of AI Briefing into its own block on 22 October (details). If you’re tracking positions, expect another layout shift.

If you’re seeing the same Blog-tab or Cafe-tab drops, don’t republish in a panic. Republishing clearly only lands you in “latest”. Wait for the 22 October change to settle, then compare integrated-search and tab positions separately. More in Naver SEO and our weekly roundups.
