Naver has had a busy couple of days on its official search blog. Two new search features went live, and both lean hard on AI Briefing. The first is a full Korean CSAT (수능) package with an AI summary of exam difficulty while the test is being sat. The second is earnings calls in stock search, with AI write-ups once the call ends. On top of that, Naver confirmed it will start paying short-form Clip creators whose videos get cited by its AI services.
Taken together, it is a clear picture of where Naver is taking integrated search. Naver hosts the event, its own AI summarises it, and its own creators get paid when the AI quotes them.
CSAT search: D-day counter, live answers and AI difficulty briefings
The Naver Search blog post from 27 October sets out what students now get when they search for the 수능. At the top of the results there is a countdown to exam day. It sits alongside the key dates (application, preliminary call-up and results notification) and a timetable for each exam period. During the exam the timetable shows which period is running, and the questions and answers for each subject appear directly in the results.
The AI part comes while the exam is still going. Naver says that “while the exam is in progress, AI Briefing summarises difficulty and question trends based on news and admissions agencies’ analysis”. After the exam, searchers can see each admissions agency’s expected grade cuts for every subject and elective, and use an “estimate my grade” tool on their self-marked scores.
Raw scores can be saved in Naver Edu against a Naver ID to see which universities are realistic. Once results are published, Naver says it will add university-specific converted-score calculators and tools for comparing 정시 (regular admission) candidates. There is also a 수능 라운지 (CSAT Lounge), a community space for students, families and teachers to post before and after the exam. Naver includes a clear disclaimer: expected grades, converted scores and admission predictions are “reference values” that may differ from real results.
This builds on the admissions search Naver launched last week, which we covered in Naver Search adds 수시/정시 competition ratios and AI Briefing subjects. Naver is building the whole admissions season into search, from application to offer.
Earnings calls in stock search, summarised by AI
The day before, on 26 October, Naver Search announced earnings calls in stock search. Search for a listed company and Naver shows when its earnings call is scheduled. You can listen live while the call is running and replay it afterwards. When the call ends, the AI produces a results table plus a summary split into profit and loss, financials, main businesses and outlook.
Naver’s own wording is that the calls let investors hear the background to results “that is hard to understand from the numbers in disclosures alone”. The rollout started with LG Display on 22 October. SK Hynix follows on 28 October and Samsung Electronics on 29 October, so this week is the first real stress test.
Naver Mate adds Clip creators from 1 November
The third piece comes from ETNews. From 1 November, Naver will pick Clip creators as “Naver Mate” every month. This is the first time short-form video creators have been included. Naver Mate is the programme that rewards creators whose content is frequently cited by Naver’s AI services. A beta has run since June for Blog, Cafe, KnowledgeiN and Premium Contents creators, and Naver says Naver Mate will launch officially next year with bigger rewards.
Clips have appeared in AI Briefing since June. Naver chooses a “representative clip” that fits the query, and the AI analyses the speech in the video to summarise its main points. ETNews says that exposure is exactly what gave Naver enough data to start selecting Clip creators. Naver says it wants Clip to be an information product, not a TikTok or Shorts clone, and it has already signed economics channels and celebrity chefs. We touched on the Clip-in-AI-Briefing angle in our Naver community recap last week.
My take
None of these is a ranking change, but all three point the same way. Naver keeps adding more SERP blocks where the answer is assembled from Naver-hosted sources. Admissions data is filed into Naver Edu. Earnings calls play inside Naver. The difficulty analysis is drawn from news partners and admissions agencies, then rewritten by AI Briefing. For anyone in education or finance publishing in Korea, the traffic for “how hard was the CSAT maths paper” or “SK Hynix Q3 call highlights” is now being caught higher up the page.
Naver Mate is the part I’d watch most closely. Naver is paying for AI citations, and that rewards being the source AI Briefing chooses, not being the blue link people click. We have already seen data showing AI Briefing cites Naver Blog in around 46% of cases. Adding Clip pushes that loop further into video. If you are a brand in Korea, the practical takeaway hasn’t changed but it has got sharper. Make sure there are informative Blog, Cafe, KnowledgeiN and now Clip assets about your category, because that is what Naver’s AI quotes and what Naver now pays creators to make.
Also note how Naver keeps breaking AI Briefing into specialist blocks rather than one big answer. That follows the move to pull Related Questions out into a standalone block last week. Vertical, event-driven SERPs with AI summaries look like the template for 2027.
