Naver’s advertiser centre is getting a new name and a new job description. In a notice published on 22 October, Naver said that from Wednesday 4 November the 네이버 광고주센터 (Naver Advertiser Centre) becomes 네이버애즈 (N Ads). The URL stays at ads.naver.com. Accounts, logins, live campaigns, budgets, bizmoney and coupons all carry over unchanged.
The rebrand is the least interesting part. Naver says N Ads will move “from a management tool where advertisers find and set things themselves” to a “growth partner” that looks at your account first and tells you what to change. It ships three features on the same day to back that up.
What launches on 4 November
- 맞춤 추천 (Tailored Recommendations), for all advertisers. N Ads diagnoses issues in the account and proposes a fix with an expected-performance estimate. A single “실행하기” (Execute) button then applies the change, “even complex changes”, in Naver’s words. Recommendations show as a dashboard card and in a new menu at the top of the left-hand navigation. They are also pushed by Naver TalkTalk and SMS, and the alert links to a mobile screen with the same Execute button, so you never need a PC. KakaoTalk alerts are planned.
- 애즈 어시스턴트 (Ads Assistant). The existing AI chatbot gets renamed and gains a “non-exposure” troubleshooter. Pick an ad and a keyword and it checks on/off status, review status, budget, balance, ad period, region and industry settings and product sale status, then tells you why the ad isn’t showing. It covers Powerlink, Shopping Search and Place Search ads, plus every display product except ADVoost Shopping. It does not cover ADVoost Place, Brand Search, New Product Search or Power Contents. It can’t yet explain ranking changes, click drops or billing.
- 첫 광고 가이드 (First Ad Guide). A four-step dashboard checklist (register ad, top up bizmoney, pass creative review, see first results) for self-managed accounts under 60 days old with no spend yet. Agency-run accounts are excluded.
Naver adds a disclaimer we’d underline twice: the recommendations are “generated by an AI model, may contain inaccurate information, and do not guarantee actual ad performance.”
And a week earlier: describe your audience in a sentence
The display side moves first. A 21 October notice says 타겟 찾기 (Target Finder) Beta launches on 28 October. It has two modes. One proposes audiences from your recent campaigns and account data. The other lets you type a description such as “customers who often buy running shoes and are into marathons” or “people looking for dog-friendly places to travel and eat”. Each suggested audience shows an estimated size, the reasoning behind it, and a profile of interests, categories and estimated demographics. You then register it and use it in ad groups.
The guardrails are telling. Prompts using sensitive data (“customers with a specific illness”) are refused. So are demographic, region and OS conditions (set those with normal targeting), predicted-performance requests (“customers likely to convert”) and offline behaviour (“people who visited our shop last week”). Audiences under 1,000 people can’t be used. Suggested audiences only serve on Naver’s own placements. Anything left unused for 90 days goes inactive, and Naver keeps what you type for a year “for service improvement”. The 잠재고객 관리 menu is renamed 오디언스 관리 (Audience Management).
The same day, the display campaign goal 쇼핑 프로모션 (Shopping Promotion) becomes 쇼핑 고객 확장 (Shopping Customer Expansion), according to a separate notice. Lookalike-style audience expansion, dynamic creatives and new-customer targeting all move from test to every advertiser. One detail is easy to miss. Dynamic creatives in ad groups set to “all placements” can start appearing in the Naver+ feed from 28 October. Audience-expansion ad groups are locked to all placements, so they can’t exclude the feed at all.
Our take
This is the same move Google made with Recommendations and auto-apply, and Meta with Advantage+. The platform tells you what to do, and the button to do it gets smaller and easier to press. The Ads Assistant troubleshooter is genuinely useful: “why isn’t my ad showing?” is the most common support ticket on any ad platform. Small Korean advertisers running their own Powerlink will save real time.
The Execute button deserves scepticism. Naver hasn’t said which changes the recommendations will propose. “Raise your bid” and “widen your audience” are the classic suggestions that lift platform revenue faster than advertiser ROAS. A one-tap mobile flow from a TalkTalk alert is designed to cut out the moment where someone checks the numbers. Agencies should agree with clients now who is allowed to press that button. Check the change history weekly from 4 November.
The bigger picture is that Naver keeps pulling the ad journey into its own surfaces. Shopping Search ads are arriving inside Smartstore product pages on the same 28 October date, ADVoost already took over the mobile shopping tab’s Trend Pick block, and AI is now writing the audiences as well as the ad copy. If you work in Korean search, plan for N Ads and Naver’s AI to be making more of these decisions every quarter.
What to do before 28 October and 4 November
- Check every Shopping Customer Expansion ad group set to “all placements”. If you don’t want Naver+ feed inventory, switch to manual placements before 28 October.
- Try Target Finder on a known audience first. Compare its size and profile with what you already know converts before you trust it on new prospects.
- Write down who can apply Tailored Recommendations, and keep a log of anything executed so you can tell AI-applied changes from your own.
- Expect alerts from “네이버애즈” from 4 November. Naver says they’re the same notifications under a new sender name.
